Peterson, Kamela
I grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan and attended the Battle Creek Public Schools.  I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University.  The Sturgis Public Schools hired me fresh out of college in 1985.  I earned a Master of Arts degree in the Elementary Grades from Western Michigan University.  My coursework was heavy with Reading, English, and Science classes.  I have also taught the Children's Literature class at Glen Oaks Community College.
I met my husband, Tim, when he was hired as a new teacher at Wall School in 1987.  We were married by the end of the school year.  He now works at Wenzel School as the Physical Education teacher. We live in Sturgis and have two wonderful children. Our daughter, Lydia, attends Grand Valley State University, majoring in history. Our son, Avery, attends the University of Michigan. He is studying math and physics.
My favorite pastime is spending time with my family doing almost anything.  We travel quite a bit.  We love the national parks in our country and spend many of our vacations visiting them.  I enjoy reading and writing. (I think all teachers do!)  I also like to play tennis, canoe, hike, and feed the birds.
I am the Reading Coach at Eastwood.  I work with the teachers to support their instruction in the area of reading.
