Warner, Jerrod

My name is Jerrod Warner and I will be your fifth grade teacher this year.  I am very excited about this upcoming school year at Eastwood.  My summer has been relatively busy, yet somewhat relaxing.  Fifth grade can be a challenging year, but it can also be an exciting year.  I cannot wait to meet each one of you.

I grew up in Coldwater, Michigan and then moved to Bronson where I graduated high school.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Western Michigan University and have yet to decide where to get my Master’s degree.  I do know that one day I would like to become a principal of an Elementary School.

This will be my ninth year teaching and sixth teaching fifth grade.  The first five years of my teaching career begin in McDonough, Georgia a town about 25 miles south of Atlanta.  While living there I taught 2 years in third grade and 3 years in fifth grade.  In the summer of 2011, I then moved to Hoover, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham and taught fifth grade for the last three yearsI’m very excited about being back in Michigan this year to teach all of you.

Let me tell you a little more about my family.  I am married to my beautiful wife, Kim, of 8 years this past July and I have a daughter, Libby, who turned 3 back in March. Our son, Myles, was just born on August 13th.  They mean everything to me. My wife Kim is also a teacher, but is currently staying at home with Libby and the new baby. I also have a Labrador Retriever named Lucy who is 8 years old.

While I love teaching just about everything, I really have a passion for Social Studies/History.  Each day history is created and I am just fascinated at how different countries/cultures are shaped based on their events.  I also like to hang out with friends and family, listen to music, watch TV (particularly Michigan football-GO BLUE!), attend various sporting events, and travel.  I look forward to a wonderful and productive year together learning many new things.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email at jwarner@sturgisps.org or by phone at 269.659.1560.
